In a 1956 IBM job ad, it stated: "Do you enjoy algebra, geometry or other logical operations? Can you do musical composition and arrangement? Do you have an orderly mind that enjoys such games as chess, bridge or anagrams ... finally, do you have a lively imagination?" YES, YES, YES, YES!

LOGICAL OPERATIONS: In 1996 I received a TI-83 calculator and was overjoyed when I learned that it could be programmed. I wrote many games for it using very basic logical operations and algebra and produced games like Monopoly, Battleship (across two TIs), Tank (like Worms with trajectory weapons), and even a basic RPG using the graph's very small 192x128 pixel screen and slow refresh rate. In college I bought myself a Palm Pilot and wrote games in Objective C during lectures (oopsie).

MUSICAL SKILLS: In 2007 I started a YouTube Channel "BenChanViolin" that has since grown to 60,000 subscribers and 13 million views. I have featured several of my own arrangements and compositions over the years and continue to create new videos as time permits. My Facebook page has 15,000 followers as well.

ORDERLY MIND: My all-time favorite game is Boggle in any form. I played Ruzzle until I reached the top 25 list with 5 different accounts simultaneously. I play online cooperatively with family and friends. I own Big Boggle (5x5) and am notorious for playing 6+ letter words only and still winning.

LIVELY IMAGINATION: Up until about age 15 I had roughly 20 stuffed animals that I would play with on a daily basis for hours at a time. I meticulously kept track of card game results (War, Poker), built LEGO structures and played RPG-style, wrote long stories and drew cartoons about them (filled 29 composition notebooks over the years), and now my 4 children know my most beloved stuffed animal named YY and enjoy carrying on my legacy.

I have 11 years of experience as a partner and web developer in several different startup businesses, back when PHP 4, HTML 4.0, Adobe Flash, and Javascript were still fairly new technologies (2004). I participated in high-level weekly meetings, managed development schedules, coordinated efforts with sales, and even participated on sales calls/travel. These experiences helped me develop a holistic approach to business and instilled in me a deep desire/drive to do everything to help the businesses become successful, even if it meant thinking outside the box, taking constructive criticism, and offering insight where others disagreed (until proven otherwise).

From 2014 on, I established myself as an independent web developer on Elance.com (prior to Upwork.com) and have since logged over 4,000 work hours across several dozen projects. While I've specialized in API development, all things PHP/MySQL, and Amazon AWS, I continue to learn on Udacity.com outside of business hours, avidly consuming their many wonderfully designed courses on core web development concepts like responsive design, build optimization, etc.
