I have a custom sound for a notification channel under /res/raw and it does not play when i launch the application from the emulator. Instead, it only works when i click on the run button in android studio and the application is run via a process in the emulator.

didn't test that out, but as long as it's working as you expect on a real device then you're good, test what you need on a real device. – Shalabyer Apr 18 '21 at 21:02
