Ruby Gems Update in Netbeans 6.9.1 seems broken

Question

I'm trying to update all of my gems in a NetBeans ROR application but when I try to use the gems update GUI the process fails and gives me a long-winded error message (pasted below) any ideas on how to solve the problem?

What happens if you type `gem update i18n` or `gem update` from the command-line? That's the standard way to manage gems. — the Tin Man, Dec 08 '12 at 20:56

A quick search for netbeans rails arraycopy reveals this thread from ruby-forum.com by Msan Msan. It's quite old, so the gems versions can be different, but maybe it'll help you.

I'm inserting it here in case it disappears from the original site:

You should install arel v 2.0.9 before installing rails. Then install rails. Then in your Gemfile you should put

gem 'arel', '2.0.9'.

The problem is also on rspec 2.6.0 so in your Gemfile you should put

gem 'rspec-rails', '2.6.0.rc6'.
